The University of Tulsa’s three-game basketball series with Kansas State is set to begin Dec. 9 at INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas.
The meeting in Tulsa at the Reynolds Center has been scheduled for Dec. 8, 2018, and the teams will face off on a to-be-determined date in 2019 at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan.
“Coach (Bruce) Weber and I had discussed a series for quite a while and I’m glad we were able to make it work,” TU coach Frank Haith said. “We have a tremendous amount of respect for the Kansas State program and its fanbase, so the series makes a great deal of sense.
The upcoming Wichita Wildcat Classic will mark the seventh meeting between the programs, with the Hurricane having won five of the matchups including the first four in a series that dates to 1965. Haith and Weber also went head-to-head in the Big 12 for two seasons when Haith coached at Missouri.
“Tulsa is a high-quality nonconference opponent, which has advanced to the postseason three times in the last four seasons,” Weber in a release from Kansas State. “Coach Haith has a done a terrific job. They return a solid core of players, including their top three scorers, so this will be another challenging game for our guys.”
The Wildcats return three starters from a team that won 21 games and advanced to the NCAA Tournament before stumbling in the first round against Cincinnati, which plays in the American Athletic Conference with TU.
